October half term in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield is Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026 for Hertfordshire schools, and the clocks go back an hour on Sunday 25 October, the day before it starts. Some children are off longer: Monk’s Walk and Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School both have an INSET day on Friday 23 October, and the two independents give a two-week break. What’s on: twelve things in half term week

Prices are the organisers’ own, checked on 25 September 2026. Most of these sell by timed slot, so book the day before at least.

  1. Witches and Wizards Week, Hatfield Park. Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, 10.30am to 4pm. A Haunted Forest trail through the Woodland Walks, made from recycled materials by the park’s own gardens team, plus a drop-in hat-decorating workshop in the Riding School from 11am. Adult £16, child £8, or £12 for the workshop only. The woodland paths are “grassy, uneven, and muddy”, so wellies. Free parking via George’s Gate, AL9 5HX (Hatfield Park).
  2. The Miller’s Monster Mash Bash, Mill Green Museum. Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 10am to 4pm, with entry slots on the hour from 10am to 2pm. A haunted trail, a pumpkin patch and a “Monster Miller”; old-school costumes encouraged. £10, children 2 and under free (Mill Green Museum).
  3. Spooktacular and Mini Pumpkin Patch, Welwyn Garden City town centre. Friday 30 October, 11am to 4pm, based on The Campus. Halloween activities funded by the town centre’s businesses with money from the borough council (One Welwyn Hatfield).
  4. Lego and Fire Walk, The Campus. Tuesday 27 October. A fundraiser for the Willow Foundation: walk over Lego for a £10 registration fee or over hot coals for £20, or just watch (One Welwyn Hatfield).
  5. Holiday Roller Skate Disco, Roller City at Campus West. Monday to Friday, 90-minute sessions at 12pm and 2pm (Friday 12pm only). £10.35 to skate, £14.15 with skate hire, £6.95 for a non-skater (Campus West Roller City).
  6. Roller City Halloween Skate Party. Friday 30 October at 2pm, a public session with fancy dress encouraged, same prices as the holiday discos.
  7. The Three Little Pigs, Campus West. Friday 30 October at 11.30am and 2pm. A new family musical. £15 a seat, babies 12 months and under still need a ticket (Campus West).
  8. Soft Play City half term sessions, Campus West. Monday to Friday at 9.30am and 1pm (Friday morning only). Children 4 to 8 £8.80, 1 to 3 £6.25, adults £6 (Soft Play City). The Soft Play Halloween Party is on Friday 30 October at 1pm, £12.50 a child (1 to 8), £6 an adult.
  9. Family Half Term Mosaic Workshop, Mill Green Museum. Wednesday 28 October, sessions at 11am and 12.15pm in the Old Pump House. A Halloween-themed mosaic with professional tiles, run by Montet Designs of St Albans. £15 a place, one accompanying adult per child (Mill Green Museum).
  10. Mill Green Museum and Watermill. Open Sunday 25 October and Sunday 1 November, with the A Milling Milestone exhibition also on Friday 30 October. Adult £6.25, child (2 to 16) £2.10; the exhibition costs nothing extra (Mill Green Museum).
  11. Welwyn Roman Baths. Saturdays only: 24 and 31 October, slots at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Adult £6.25, child £2.10 (Welwyn Roman Baths). Mill Green and the Roman Baths are never open on the same day.
  12. Hocus Pocus (1993), Campus West cinema. Saturday 31 October at 10am and Sunday 1 November at 12.30pm. £12.25, or £11.20 for children, students, seniors and disabled customers (Campus West cinema). For adults, John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) is the Monday Night Classic on 26 October at 8pm, and Scream (1996) is on Saturday 31 October at 8pm.
