Around Welwyn Garden City, most people end up booking Christmas Day at the Attimore Hall on Ridgeway (£74.95 a head), the Crooked Chimney at Lemsford (£85.95) or the White Horse in Welwyn village (£95). The Chequers in Woolmer Green has the lowest Christmas Day price on this list at £59.99. Every entry was checked against the venue’s own site on 2 November 2026.

Prices are per person and do not include service unless we say so. Christmas Day 2026 is a Friday, and most of these pubs want full payment by 1 December.

Welwyn Garden City and Lemsford

1. The Attimore Hall, Welwyn Garden City

The Attimore Hall is an Ember Inns pub on Ridgeway, on the east side of Welwyn Garden City. Its Christmas Day menu is three courses for £74.95, or £37.50 for children.

Ember says it will “take care of everything” on the day. Before Christmas, the festive set menu is two courses for £22.99 (£9.99 for children), and Breakfast with Santa, with a gift for each child, costs £12.99 a head.

The Boxing Day menu is three courses for £32.50, or £11.99 for children. Ember takes a £10 deposit per guest for Christmas Day and wants full payment and pre-orders by 1 December.

2. The Crooked Chimney, Lemsford

The Crooked Chimney is a Vintage Inns pub on Cromer Hyde Lane, between Welwyn Garden City and Lemsford. Its 2026 Christmas Day menu is three courses for £85.95.

Starters include baked scallops, figs with blue cheese and prosciutto, and gin-cured smoked salmon. The mains are hand-carved turkey breast with a pig in blanket, roast duck, monkfish, noisette of lamb, a 50-day aged Black Angus beef loin and a truffled mushroom Wellington for vegans.

The pub’s deposit page says every Christmas Day table pays £10 a head. Full payment and pre-orders are due by 8 December, and tables of seven or more pay a 10% discretionary service charge.

Welwyn village, Ayot Green and Tewin

3. The White Horse, Welwyn

The White Horse is on Mill Lane in the old village of Welwyn. Its Christmas Day menu is three courses for £95 and starts with a glass of fizz, rosemary almonds and olives.

The pub says it gives “the classic turkey and traditional trimmings the respect they deserve”, and the menu also has beef bresaola and slow-roasted lamb shoulder. The children’s Christmas Day menu is £48.

From 18 November to 31 December, apart from Christmas Day, the festive menu is two courses for £29.95 or three for £33.95, and £17.95 for children. The pub’s OpenTable listing gives a £25 a head non-refundable deposit for Christmas Day, with full payment due by 4 December.

4. The White Hart, Welwyn

The White Hart is a pub with rooms on Prospect Place in Welwyn village, run by the same team as the Tilbury in Datchworth. It is closed from 25 to 30 December, so it is here for the run-up rather than for the day itself.

From 20 November to 24 December its festive menu is two courses for £37.50 or three for £42.50. Tables of eight or more pre-order and pay a £10 a head deposit.

Its Court Room takes groups of 20 or more for a family-style sharing menu. For Christmas Day itself, the team’s “Christmas Day at home” is an oven-ready three-course feast with cooking instructions, ordered online and collected from the Tilbury.

5. The Waggoners, Ayot Green

The Waggoners is a country pub on Brickwall Close at Ayot Green that serves French cooking, and on its own site it calls itself “French Fine Dining and Pub in Hertfordshire”. Its Christmas lunch menu costs £115 a head and £55 for children under 11.

A 10% service charge goes on the bill, and the £20 deposit stops being refundable on 1 December 2026. From 25 November to 24 December, and for Boxing Day lunch, the festive menu is two courses for £28 or three for £34, with a £10 a head deposit.

Dinner bookings on the festive menu must pre-order, and so must lunch parties of six or more. The pub asks diners in the restaurant to dress smart casual.

6. The Plume of Feathers, Tewin

The Plume of Feathers is a Greene King pub on Upper Green in Tewin, about three miles north-east of Welwyn Garden City. Its Christmas Day menu is three courses for £78, and the pub promises “all the special festive extras”, from Brussels sprouts to pigs in blankets.

Every guest pays a £10 deposit, children included. Pre-orders opened on 21 October and full payment is due by 1 December.

Greene King keeps the deposit if you cancel on or after 11 December. The FSA rated the pub 3 at its inspection on 24 September 2026, under a new registration.

Woolmer Green

7. The Chequers, Woolmer Green

The Chequers is a Wells & Co pub with bedrooms on London Road in Woolmer Green, at the northern edge of the borough. Christmas Day is three courses for £59.99, or £29.99 for children under 12, served between 12pm and 4pm.

The pub says it cannot seat anyone for food on the day without a booking. From 18 November the festive menu is two courses for £19.99 or three for £24.99.

On Boxing Day it is £29.99 or £34.99, and £19.99 for children. Every festive booking pays £10 a head, children included.

The Christmas Day balance is due by 1 December and deposits are non-refundable.

Hatfield, Brookmans Park and Cuffley

8. The Red Lion, Hatfield

The Red Lion is a McMullen’s pub on the Great North Road in Hatfield, in a Grade II listed former hotel that dates from 1847, according to its Wikipedia entry. McMullen’s runs it as one of its Chicken & Grill pubs.

The Christmas Day menu is three courses for £73, and children 12 and under pay half (£36.50). The main is roast turkey and beer-baked ham with pigs in blankets, starters include salmon gravadlax and baked Camembert, and it finishes with tea or coffee and a mince pie.

Christmas Day bookings pay a £20 a head deposit, with full payment and pre-orders due by 30 November. The pub is open from 11.30am to 3pm on the day and serves food from 12pm to 2.30pm.

Before Christmas, the festive menu is two courses for £28.50 or three for £32.50. The menu PDFs carry no year, but they were made in July 2026 and sit under the pub’s 2026 Christmas opening times.

9. The Plough, Cuffley

The Plough is a McMullen’s Chicken & Grill pub on Plough Hill in Cuffley. Its Christmas menus are the same as the Red Lion’s: £73 for three courses on Christmas Day, £36.50 for children 12 and under, a £20 deposit, and full payment and pre-orders by 30 November.

It keeps the same hours on the day, open 11.30am to 3pm with food from 12pm to 2.30pm. McMullen’s also lists a festive buffet menu of finger food such as pigs in blankets and turkey-filled Yorkshires.

Anyone who books a Christmas table during November gets a free glass of Prosecco, for the lead booker only. Breakfast with Santa is on Saturday 5 December at 10.30am.

10. Miller & Carter, Brookmans Park

Miller & Carter is the steakhouse chain’s restaurant on the Great North Road at Brookmans Park. Its 2026 Christmas Day menu is £109.95 a head, and it includes a choice of 50-day aged steaks: a 10oz filet mignon or a 10oz ribeye.

For an extra £50 the steak comes topped with scallops and samphire. A separate Young Guest Christmas Day menu starts at £49.95.

Every Christmas Day table pays a £10 a head deposit, with full payment and pre-orders due by 1 December. Deposits are non-refundable within 14 days of dining.

The Doctor’s Tonic on Church Road in Welwyn Garden City is open for drinks only on Christmas Day. Tewinbury, the farm hotel outside Tewin, says it is serving Christmas Day lunch but had published no price when we checked, so it is not listed. We will add it once a price is out.
