Mill Green's free Christmas Craft Fair is on Sunday 15 November 2026. Neither town runs a standing Christmas market; here are the fairs and stalls instead.
Neither Welwyn Garden City nor Hatfield has a standing Christmas market with weeks of chalets. What the borough has is a handful of one-day fairs, and the first one confirmed for 2026 is Mill Green Museum’s Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday 15 November, 11am to 3pm, free to enter. Last year Hatfield Park’s Winter Market ran on the same weekend. The town-centre lights events also bring food and drink stalls for a day.

Mill Green Christmas Craft Fair
Local artisans sell Christmas and holiday gifts in the gardens and the pumphouse at Mill Green, on Bush Hall Lane, Hatfield AL9 5PD. Entry to the fair is free, but it does not include the watermill and museum; that needs a general admission ticket, £6.25 adult and £2.10 child on its open days. The free fair ticket is still booked through the museum’s online system. Stallholders can apply to museum@welhat.gov.uk (Mill Green Museum).
Hatfield Park Winter Market
Last year’s was an indoor market in the Riding School at Hatfield Park, in support of Isabel Hospice: handmade decorations, cards, jewellery, soaps, homeware and food and drink stalls including Hertfordshire-distilled gin, with a hamper raffle. Enquiries went to a local organising group rather than the estate, and entry was £2.50 on the day with under-15s free. Parking is free through George’s Gate, AL9 5HX (Hatfield Park, Winter Market 2025). The town-centre events
Both lights events are food-and-drink afternoons as much as switch-ons. Last year Welwyn Garden City’s had a fun fair, with rides from £3, plus waffle, sweet and drinks stalls (One Welwyn Hatfield, Christmas in Welwyn Garden City). Hatfield’s Festive Friday in White Lion Square had food stalls and a drinks bar, with the town centre’s alcohol ban lifted from 3pm to 7pm inside the event area (One Welwyn Hatfield, Christmas in Hatfield).
